Young Whistlers Course (Football)
Cumann na mBunscol Chill Mhantáin will hold a Young Whistlers’ (Gaelic Football) course on Wednesday September 28th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the hall of Kilcoole Primary School (St. Anthony’s Senior Building). This course is for schools in the North-East region only. It will be co-ordinated by our GDA Garrett Doyle (we hope that similar Young Whistler programmes will be held in other districts and we are currently liaising with GDAs to investigate this possibility. Further information regarding dates/venues, etc will be sent out in due course). As places are limited, please let secretary Brian Cornyn know as soon as possible if your school would like to participate. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Schools are asked to send a 6th class boy and girl on the day. These Young Whistlers will be asked to help referee at our upcoming blitzes, the first of which begins October 20th. A responsible, reliable pupil who shows enthusiasm and initiative would be a fantastic candidate!

Points of Interest from National General September Meeting
Rúnaí Brian Cornyn and PRO Pamela McDermott attended as the Wicklow delegates at the National Allianz Cumann namBunscol General September Meeting in Jury’s Croke Park Hotel on Saturday 24th September. The room buzzed with enthusiasm as primary school teachers made plans for a full year of Cumann na mBunscol activity. Cumann namBunscol’s aim is to make Gaelic games the games of choice for boys and girls in Ireland’s primary schools, and very oftenis the case that it is in the primary school that children get their first introduction to Gaelic games and subsequently go on to join their local club and possibly play for their county.
Some of the points to note included that:
Wicklow Times Participation Day (5th and 6th Class Girls Football)
Unfortunately, this blitz had to be cancelled in both Bray Emmets and Ballinakill due to the inclement weather, it will be rescheduled for a later date and schools will be informed as soon as possible.
