Coaching and Games Development in Wicklow GAA is divided into two separate but connected aspects Games Development and Games Participation with both overseen by our Head of Games Hugh Kenny.

The Role of a Games Development Coordinator

A Games Development Coordinator supports the growth and improvement of Gaelic Games within clubs, schools, and communities. They work closely with coaches, teachers, and volunteers to deliver high-quality coaching, player development programmes, and coach education initiatives. The GDC plays a vital role in ensuring that Gaelic Games are enjoyable, inclusive, and accessible for all, helping to strengthen the foundations of the GAA at grassroots level.

The Role of a Games Participation Officer

A Games Participation Officer plays a key role in growing and sustaining involvement in Gaelic Games at all levels. Working closely with schools, clubs, and community groups, they deliver coaching sessions, participation programmes, and engagement initiatives that encourage people of all ages and abilities to get involved. Their focus is on creating fun, inclusive, and positive sporting experiences that strengthen community ties and promote lifelong participation in the GAA.
