Winter Warriors Put on Wonderful Hurling Display
On Tuesday, January 21st, a thrilling 3rd and 4th class hurling blitz took place in Bray, showcasing impressive skills and sportsmanship. Despite the time of year, the young players displayed fantastic hurling, and the event was a huge success.
A total of 17 teams competed in the blitz, with schools from the local area coming together to participate. The schools involved were Greystones CNS, St. Laurence’s N.S, St. Cronan’s N.S, St. Patrick’s N.S, Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath, Nuns Cross N.S, St. Joseph’s N.S, St. Peter’s N.S, Greystones Educate Together N.S, and St. Fergal’s N.S.
Each team played at least four games, and there was a fantastic display of hurling skills throughout the day. The games were played in great spirit, and all the children seemed to have a blast. The event was made even more exciting with eight pitches running simultaneously, ensuring a fast-paced atmosphere.
Adding to the event’s success were the ‘Young Whistlers’ from 6th class, who refereed the matches. Their enthusiasm and effort in managing the games were greatly appreciated.
A big thank you goes out to Bray Emmets for generously allowing the use of their excellent facilities. We also want to express our gratitude to all the coaches, parents, and teachers who dedicated their time to coaching the children and assisting on the day.

3rd and 4th Class Girls’ Camogie – 28th January – Bray
A Girls Camogie Participation Blitz for 3rd and 4th class will take place on Tuesday 28th January at 10.30am in Bray Emmets GAA Club.
This was down in the calendar as an indoor blitz but owing to logistics and success of previous blitzes we have opted for outdoor venue.
We kindly ask schools to arrive 15 minutes earlier in order to start the Blitz at 10:30am.
Matches will be 8 a-side (can be adjusted on the day depending on the numbers of both teams).
Fixtures will be sent out next week.
If a player has a banded hurley, the band must be taped over.

Location: Bray Emmets GAA Club. Please let Clíona (Camogie Officer) know via email/WhatsApp (cliona@gscl.ie or on 087-6627223) by the evening of Friday 24th January if your school will be in attendance and, if so, how many teams you will be sending.
Please note Allianz Cumann na mBunscol blitzes are all teacher-led events – team mentors must make themselves available to referee games. We also ask all schools to assist with tidying up pitches at the end of the blitz i.e. goals moved to sidelines, poles and cones collected and returned to container by astro.
Schools must be registered with Cumann na mBunscol to participate in CnamB activities.

2025 Kicks off with Allianz 3rd/4th Class Girls Indoor Football Blitz in Aughrim An Indoor Girls’ Football Blitz was held on Thursday 16th January in Aughrim Community Hall. This was a 7-a-side blitz and all involved had a great day. Participating schools included Kilcommon, Crossbridge, Tinahely, Coolafancy, Laragh, Knockananna, Shillelagh, Annacurra, Ballycoog, Aughrim, Ballyconnell and St. Saviour’s.
