Billy was in from the beginning and was on the team that beat the Arklow Geraldine’s to bring home the first Senior Hurling Championship, in 1965, to the club.
He was on the Wicklow team that won the Leinster Junior Hurling Championship in 1964 when Jim Brophy described him as the trump card in the pack. Won three Leinster medals, Junior in 1964 and 1967, when Wicklow won the All Ireland, and Intermediate Hurling Championship in 1971 when Tipperary beat them in the All Ireland Final.
Billy was also a great footballer and played for Wicklow but was curtailed by his dedication to Hurling.
