Boys’ Indoor Football Blitz Proves Hugely Popular

The Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Term 2 activities began in earnest at Shoreline, Greystones on Thurs 17th Jan with the 3rd/4th Class Boys’ Indoor Blitz. Demand outreached supply for this very popular non-competitive tournament with 19 teams taking part on the day.  Four hours of non-stop, end-to-end football saw 10 schools participate and display their skills in these fast tempo games.  Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Chill Mhantáin would like to congratulate the new qualified Young Whistlers on their excellent handling of the games. Under the tutelage of Wicklow GDA, Garrett Doyle, these Young Whistlers showed great confidence making their debut.  Well done to all the players and coaches from St. Laurence’s Greystones (3), Scoil na Coróine Mhuire Ashford (3), St. Cronan’s BNS Bray (3), St. Laurence O’Toole NS Roundwood (2), Kilcoole NS (2), Newtownmountkennedy PS (2), St. Peter’s Bray (1), Gaelscoil Uí Cheadaigh Brí Chualann (1) Scoil Chualann Brí Chualann (1), St. Brigid’s Greystones (1).

Next up is Girls Indoor Football

The Allianz Cumann na mBunscol 3rd – 4th Class Girls Indoor Football Day takes place next Thursday the 24th January in Shoreline Leisure Centre, Greystones.  It is a 7-a side blitz. The focus is on participation rather than competition.  We hope to see as many schools represented on the day as possible. That said, as it is an indoor event and space is limited, the day will most likely be split into 3 sessions: 10-11a.m., 11:30-12:30 & 1-2 p.m. with a maximum of 6 teams able to partake in each session.  Therefore, please let Cormac Ó Buachalla, Oifigeach Peil na mBan, know your preferred time of the 3 and he will endevour to accommodate you. Obviously he can’t guarantee your ideal slot as there are other factors influencing the timetable but he will do his best.  Please let him know no later than by 3pm on Tuesday 23rd January if your school will be in attendance and, if so, with how many teams.  You can notify him by email or text/WhatsApp 0857652870.  Finally, if you have Young Whistlers willing to attend please let him know.  It promises to be a great day for girls’ football.
