Glenealy and Carnew won through to the Dacia Cars senior hurling championship final after they both recorded hard earned wins in Joule Park today.
The holders Glenealy had a horrendous start against St Patricks and were seven points down at one stage after goals from Andy O’Brien and Michael Connors both from frees gave St Pats a dream start. Glenealy fought back in the second period with the wind at their back and a Jonathan O’Neill Junior goal levelled the game. A second goal from Gavin Weir helped them to a 2-12 to 2-7 win.
The second game was a close affair all through with Carnews ability to score from frees eventually getting them home. Enda Donohoe was imperious from placed balls and his 0-13 total helped the Carnew men to the final and a mouth watering date with old rivals Glenealy.
The final is in Joule Park on October 21st.
