Rathnew and Carnew have secured their places in the finals day of Wicklow football on October 14th after wins in Joule Park today.
In the Darcy Sands Intermediate football championship Carnew seen off a plucky Laragh team 1-11 to 0-9 with a second half goal from Conall McCrea the telling score in the game. Laragh did have chances but a combination of some good saves from Cormac Doyle and some poor shooting cost them. Carnew await the winners of tomorrows (Sunday) game with Tinahely and Kilmacanogue which is at 2pm in Joule Park.
In the Renault senior championship Rathnew got quite the scare from AGB before they secured a 0-15 to 1-11 win. A Philip Healy fisted goal brought Arklow right back in to the game having been 0-14 to 0-7 behind at one stage in the second half. Nicky Mernagh, Eddie Doyle, Jody Merrigan and Leighton Glynn were scorers in chief for the Villagers who now wait on the result of tomorrows game with St Pats and Hollywood to see who they will,face on the 14th.
