The launch of the Lightning Protection Ireland Senior Hurling Championship took place on Sunday in Glendalough.
The championship starts this weekend with the six teams all playing each other in the group stages.
Reigning Wicklow and Leinster champions, Bray Emmets, will be hoping for a 5th consecutive title. This year also sees the addition of a group team with Avondale and Barndarrig joining forces to compete in senior ranks along with their separate intermediate and junior teams.
Wicklow Chairman Damien Byrne said:
“We are looking forward to a very exciting and competitive championship. It has been a great year for Wicklow hurling so far with our senior team winning the Nickey Rackard Cup and our minors winning the Celtic Challenge. We hope that these wins will help to increase participation and support of hurling in our county.
I want to thank Paudi Reidy and Lightning Protection Ireland for their continued support of our hurling championships.”
Best of luck to all our senior hurling teams: Avondale/Barndarrig, Bray Emmets, Carnew Emmets, Éire Óg Greystones, Glenealy and Kiltegan.
