Cumann na mBunscol Cill Mhantáin is the organisation of primary school teachers in Co. Wicklow who are committed to the promotion and development of Gaelic games within the county. Hurling and camogie, both indoor and outdoor, are promoted as are boys’ and girls’ football. Athletics are also promoted. During the championship season Cumann na mBunscol promotes the INTO Mini-Sevens where pupils get the opportunity to participate in an exhibition match in front of a full Croke Park.
Each year brings changes and the coming year has many. Although a lot of the modern day philosophies of the GAA have already been adopted by Cumann na mBunscol Cill Mhantáin, the coming year will continue that trend in order to adopt to the changing face of the modern day primary school. These changes are clearly laid out in this booklet.
We are grateful for the continued support of our county board. The expert and willing input from Hugh Kenny’s coaches has been invaluable. The club school coaching system is a huge success.
We are grateful to the local media, The Bray People, The Wicklow People, The Wicklow Times and East Coast Radio for continuing to give widespread coverage of our events.
We thank Allianz for their continued support of Cumann na mBunscol. To the local G.A.A.clubs where we are always made welcome whenever we request the use of their facilities go raibh maith agat.
We are all very aware of the pressures on Primary Schools in modern times. It is becoming more difficult for Principals to release teachers at times because of an over expanding curriculum. We appreciate their co-operation. To the teachers themselves, for their selfless efforts we are forever thankful.
We will continue to make Gaelic games our games of choice for the children in our schools, to everyone who will help us in our efforts,
Go raibh maith agaibh.
